IV Therapy for Athletes & Sports Recovery in Utah

IV Therapy Straight To Your Home or Training Center

Athletes Benefit from IV Therapy for Performance

and Recovery

When it comes to hydration, athletes know better than anyone how important it is to their performance and their ability to bounce back from exhaustion as quickly as possible. Dehydration reduces performance by:

  •      Reducing the amount of blood pumped each time the heart beats
  •      Reducing the amount of oxygen flowing to exercising muscles
  •      Experiencing premature exhaustion

Dehydration also makes it harder for the body to rid itself of the byproducts of exercise, making recovery after physical activity more difficult. IV therapy for athletes can help them perform better and recover faster.

How Athletes Benefit from IV Drip Therapy in Utah

In order to recover from an athletic event or prepare for one, we recommend the Myers' Cocktail, which costs $200 for in-home services anywhere in our service area.

IV therapy is a convenient way for athletes to stay hydrated while getting a boost from vitamins, fluids, and antioxidants.

When Athletes Should Get IV Therapy

When is the best time for athletes to receive intravenous infusions and IV drips?

Endurance Athletes: After Events

Athletes take a lot of punishment in endurance sports. Athletes participating in football, soccer, and any competition that involves running can lose important vitamins and minerals in addition to water, leaving them to replenish a host of nutrients afterward. Athletes can rehydrate to some extent with water and sports drinks, but IV infusions offer the complete package in a short amount of time, bypassing the digestive system and rehydrating immediately.

Weight-Cutting Athletes: Pre-Event

For events involving weight-cutting or excessive heat, IV drip therapy can be a perfect solution. By providing the body with what it needs to function optimally and lose weight, vitamins and minerals can help. Utilizing athlete IV treatments can give weight-cutting athletes in wrestling, boxing, MMA, or similar sports an edge. The best time to IV rehydrate is right after you make weight, giving your body the longest time to recover.

IV Therapy for Athletes: Is it Legal?

It is perfectly legal for athletes to receive intravenous therapy, but they must check with the governing bodies of their sports first. In addition, athletes licensed under the Arizona boxing commission, which adopted the USADA standard, are not allowed to take IV hydration. In some cases, athletes may be able to receive IV drip therapy, but only to a certain amount, or it may be restricted around competition times. WADA, for example, divides its list of prohibited substances into three categories:

  •      Prohibited at all times
  •      Prohibited in-competition
  •      Prohibited in particular sports

The amount of IV therapy allowed is 100mL or less per 12-hour period. It is important for athletes to check with their sports governing bodies to determine if any rules regarding intravenous fluids exist. WADA has some of the most stringent standards out there.
